Accessibility Statement

This statement was last updated on November 09th 2025.

The Equity and Advocacy Social Justice Foundation ("Foundation," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We believe that everyone has the right to access information and services, and we are actively working to improve the user experience for everyone who visits our Site, https://www.equityinjustice.ca/ (the "Site").

We are continually applying and updating our understanding of relevant accessibility standards to make our website as user-friendly and inclusive as possible.

We recognize that accessibility is an ongoing journey, not a final destination. Our team is dedicated to regularly reviewing and improving our Site. While we strive to adhere to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and other best practices, we cannot guarantee that the Site will be perfectly accessible to all users at all times.

This statement serves as an honest acknowledgment that this is a work in progress. We are committed to identifying and rectifying accessibility barriers.

Accessibility adjustments on this site

We are continually applying and updating our understanding of relevant accessibility standards, using the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) as our benchmark. Our goal is to make our website as user-friendly and inclusive as possible, and we are actively working towards substantial conformance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA guidelines.

  • Screen Reader Compatibility: Building our site with a logical structure and semantic HTML to be compatible with modern screen readers.

  • Clear Hierarchy: Using clear and logical heading structures (e.g., H1, H2, H3) to make content easy to navigate.

  • Alt Text: Providing alternative text (alt text) for all meaningful images to describe their content and function for users who cannot see them.

  • High Contrast & Readability: Using easy-to-read fonts and striving to maintain high contrast ratios between text and backgrounds to ensure legibility.

  • Keyboard Navigation: Ensuring that all interactive elements and content can be navigated using only a keyboard.

  • Reduced Motion: Minimizing the use of non-essential animations. Where animations are used, we strive to provide mechanisms to reduce or stop motion to assist users with vestibular disorders.

Accessibility arrangements in the organization

The Equity and Advocacy Social Justice Foundation is primarily a digital-first organization and does not maintain a public-facing office for in-person services. Our primary mode of communication and service is through our Site and other digital platforms.

When we host or participate in public events (both virtual and in-person), we are committed to accessibility:

In-Person Events: We will make every effort to select venues that are physically accessible and compliant with the accessibility standards in our jurisdiction.

Virtual Events: For our virtual events and webinars, we strive to include accessibility features such as live captioning and providing accessible digital materials.

Communication: We are committed to accessible communication. If you require an accommodation to participate in a meeting or event (such as live transcription or ASL interpretation), please let us know when you RSVP or by contacting us at support@equityinjustice.ca.
